No. 35

I had my hair cut this morning and during that woeful hour that I have to face myself in the mirror, I thought I'd think up 25 great things instead of focussing on how dreadful I look.

First of all, I'm not vain enough to think anything's great, but here's the things I came up with that I do actually like about myself:

1) I find it easy to learn things
2) I have nice eyes (apparently)
3) My children are content, healthy and bright, so I must be mothering ok
4) My hair looks lovely when it has been done
5) I'm relatively unflappable
6) I can usually make people laugh
7) I am excellent at making lists
8) I can cook well
9) I've got a good memory for names and faces
10) I'm tall
11) I only have the one wrinkle and it's a sarcasm line
12) I very rarely run out of things to say
13) I am the photocopier whisperer, no photocopier has defeated me yet
14) My thighs are practically perfect

(oh dear, I'm struggling to think of things now, negativity is so much easier)

15) I make friends easily
16) I am prepared to try most things (within reason)
17) I can spell properly
18) I don't drink very often
19) I'm good at Maths
20) I know the second verse of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
21) Everyone thinks I'm clever, which is almost as good as being clever
22) I don't watch excessive TV
23) I have very long eyelashes
24) I make the kids freshly prepared food almost all the time
25) I managed to think of 24 other things I like about myself

Whew. I now feel totally vain, and also have a much longer list in my head of all the negatives that cancel out each and every one of those. Which defeats the purpose, so I'm going to go and bask in my tallness. I have amended the list item from "great" to "ok" to atone for the sheer self admiration this has required.
