# 90

I made good pancakes. I did. They were well impressive and even passed muster with my resident me-critic.

Not possibly a big deal, but I've never been able to do it before. I'm a good cook, it's the simple things that pass me by - I only mastered boiled eggs and cups of tea at quite an elderly age.

What I did differently tonight: ditched the recipe and added a dod of this and a wodge of that. And some oatmeal just because. I'm in a funk today and when I feel crap, I like to cook and I don't like to cook from recipes, I like to go create in the kitchen. If I'd trusted my instinct years ago I would have saved manys a pancake day. Oh, it's pancake day soon, I can use my pancakeal epiphany* for good use.

They were extremely pancakey. I was very proud:

Pancakes; its funny, I excel in making, but don't enjoy the eating that much! But I applaud you! you should never trust recipes. I tend to just read the ingredients list, myself, and then make it up as I go along. Its much more enjoyable! I can imagine you are a good cook - I mean, oatmeal in pancakes?! It sounds strange, but if it works and you had the guts to try it then god damned good show!!!!
